Star Pupils Donate through Dancing

Second and third class pupils from St. Patrick’s NS, Dublin road, Limerick, donned their dancing shoes and raised € 1,420 to send 2 goats, 1 sheep, 1 camel, 3 hives of honey bees 50 chicks, and a trio of rabbits to Africa through the animal specialist charity, Bóthar.

Regular lessons were replaced by dance lessons and DJ Sean took to the decks while pupils took to the dancefloor.

Class teacher Ms. Evelyn Hartigan really wanted her pupils to get into the Christmas spirit and do something worthwhile for charity.  “At this time of year when children in the developed world receive so much, I think it’s a good lesson to teach children that not everyone has as much as they do.  I know that Bóthar’s pass-on system means that many families will benefit from this donation and that is why we chose Bóthar,” she said.

Proudly displaying the animal pencil tops which they sold to raise €300 and send a goat to Africa are students from St. Thomas' Senior School. Jobstown, Tallaght
