Bóthar Moooooooooves in . . .

Alex and Leo MOTORISTS and passers by all had to take a second glance when they saw goats and a heifer in Dublin recently. Bóthar brought their star performers, three goats and an in-calf dairy heifer, to meet the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Paddy Bourke at the official opening of Bóthar’s Leinster office at 232 Harold’s Cross Road. The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Paddy Bourke, officially welcomed Bóthar to the capital.

Commenting on the launch, he said “I have always admired Bóthar and the great work that they do so it gives me enormous pleasure to welcome the charity to Dublin. I hope I don’t see too many heifers like this one walking down the road in Harold’s Cross – they will be much better off going to the developing world where they can help lift families out of poverty.” Donors and supporters, including Ambassadors to Ireland from Estonia, Pakistan and Morocco all helped celebrate the opening of the office.

This office will be a base for all fundraising and educational activities in the Leinster region. Young Alex and Leo Mandal also attended on the day; they had saved up their pocket money to buy a goat for their mother as a birthday present and wanted to meet Lolo before she goes to her new family next year. Bóthar Chief Executive, Peter Ireton, is thrilled that the growth of the charity has enabled them to take this step.

“The time is right to open a new office in Leinster; public support for Bóthar in the area is strong with a large percentage of our donations coming from Dublin. There is a real need for a more prominent base in the region to support our educational and fundraising activities. Children in Dublin want to learn about the work that we do and how people really benefit from receiving a Bóthar animal.” The Dublin office is headed up by Aisling Donoghue who, together with Frances Murphy, Nora Casey and Jenny Clarkin, is looking forward to welcoming visitors and answering queries on 01 498 1888
