Spread the Sweetness this Valentine’s Day
SPREAD the sweetness this coming
Valentine’s Day by supporting Bóthar’s
Valentine’s Appeal. Our Appeal aims to
raise funds to support and grow our
honey-bee projects throughout the
developing world.
It’s very simple to support the appeal. All
you have to do is show your warm and caring
nature and give your ‘honey’ a bee hive for
Valentine’s Day. The special Valentine’s card,
explaining your generosity, can then be given
to your honey on 14th February.
A gift of Bee Hives to your ‘honey’ is also a
gift to an African family! Bees provide many
benefits to our project families in Uganda,
Tanzania, Ghana, Cameroon and Zambia.
Native bees produce a sweet, medicinal honey
and valuable wax, both of which are in high
demand in the local markets.
Each family that receives a gift of honeybees
from Bóthar is provided with training in the art
of bee-keeping, as well as the harvesting and
the marketing of the honey and wax. Bóthar
also provides protective clothing that can be
shared amongst a community group. Bee hives
require almost no space and, once established,
are inexpensive to maintain.
More importantly they pollinate trees and
plants in the surrounding area, thereby
improving some fruit and vegetable yields. In
this way bee hives can improve the lot of a
whole community.
For as little as €50 you can contribute to the
Bóthar Honey Bee appeal and help to alleviate
poverty and hunger for poor children in the
developing world. €50 will sponsor one hive of
Honey Bees, protective clothing and training
for a struggling family.
It takes three hives of
Honey Bees, which cost €125, to make up a full
bee-keeping unit.
So Spread the Sweetness this Valentine’s
Day and spend your money on a card that
saves lives!
