Bóthar Schools Open Day 2007

On the 19th of April last we had a very special day in Roscrea Livestock Mart. We organised an open day for schools so that young people could see the different species of livestock that we send to our developing countries. (As we all know, most children today do not get the opportunity of petting a goat or milking a cow or holding baby chicks in their hands). Several hundred young people from all around Ireland descended on Roscrea to see our displays of dairy cows, dairy goats, pigs, sheep and chicks. We also had some light hearted entertainment, magic shows and character animals. The crowd was entertained by Meave O Donohue, the young girl who did so well on ‘You’re a Star’ on RTE TV recently. The sun shone down all day, everybody brought a picnic and a great day was had by all. We hope to do something similar next year and we hope to extend the invitation to adults also. Please try to come along. Here are some of the photos taken on the day.
