White dove brings hope to Africa
A white dove, released as part of a Belfast organisation’s anniversary celebrations has won a prize for Bóthar.

As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of their ARENA Network Campaign, Belfast-based Business in the Community released 10 doves, each representing a chosen charity. The winning dove that arrived home first was flying for Bóthar.

Bóthar has recently opened an office in Belfast, and our first project in the area is to send 350 Irish dairy goats out to Africa in early 2006. Business in the Community is not only donating the £100 prize money towards this project but their Campaign Manager, Eamonn Keaveney, is matching the prize with an additional £100 of his own money. This £200 will cover the cost of sponsoring one dairy goat, including all transport, training and veterinary support.

‘We are thrilled with the generosity of Business in the Community and Eamonn Keaveney’ said Lucy Powell of Bóthar, Belfast office. ‘I would also like to personally thank the dove in question for flying so quickly! This money will make a huge difference to a family in Africa, helping them to beat poverty and become self-reliant for food and income.’
