Spring 2005 : STUDY TOUR

UGANDA

Winter 2004: Bóthars largest Study Tour to date took place in November 2004 with 39 friends & supporters travelling to Uganda in Eastern Africa to visit our recipient farmers.

After an initial orientation in Kampala the group was split in two with one group visiting families in the Masake region while the other went to the Mbale region.  They each met families who had received Irish dairy cows, dairy goats and laying hens.  The visitors caused a stir of excitement in each village they visited and were greeted with singing and dancing and crowds of curious friends and village neighbours. Eamon Quirke who participated in the ‘passing-on' ceremony during the recent Study Tour to Uganda.

Study Tour co-ordinators Maureen Purcell & Frances Murphy were very pleased with the week long trip which went off with the minimum of hitches. They said they couldn't have asked for a nicer bunch of people to travel with! (reports are still filtering back of people picking flowers, talking to Orangutans and sipping Nile Specials on balmy African evenings!) Eileen Walsh at the passing-on ceremony in Uganda.
